Back it up!

“Jesus saves, but Buddha backs up.”
- Voice from Tech Support [from Library Journal article by Douglas Lord

After a recent computer scare, you know the kind where your laptop slows down to a crawl for absolutely no reason, I instantly pictured all my files - my writing, financial records, pictures, music, bookmarks - everything that I hold dear disappearing into an unknown black hole. Although my laptop is backed up once a week to an outside drive, a lingering doubt that all my files will be restored exactly as is plagues my anxiety. So I instantly backed up my most important, irreplaceable treasures online to Dropbox.

Don't wait until it's too late to be saved.

back it up!

You and I are Love

I subscribe to the belief
that you and I are love.
That we are all on a journey
of discovering the sacred
 through writing, art, music, dreams,
meditation, the feminine
and everything in between.
Focus our thoughts
on loving expression,
fueled by the passion
blazing in our belly.
Our emotions flow freely -
anger, happiness, fear,
sadness, envy and shame -
all welcome to guide us
in choosing the right action.
Our balanced body creates
who we are,
creative, divine beings,
expanding every day, every moment,
shining bright
for the whole world to see
and love.

Call for love

left by Kaitlyn Mirison, right by Sonja Thomas

A creative play session with paint, stickers, and other fun materials resulted in the masterpieces above. It was so fun having no end destination in mind - creating with no attachments allowed the artistic juices to flow.

play with art and reconnect to your imagination,

Really, reality tv?

I have an addictive personality. Whenever I experience something that brings me joy, I return to it over and over to re-create that same feeling of euphoria. Sugary and salty foods, television, alcohol, travel, dancing...you name it. But over consumption of anything is unhealthy or as often preached, everything in moderation.

Reality cast from All My Babies' Mamas

When I found myself knowing more intimate details about the Kardashians than people I actually know and love, I knew it was time to pull the plug. And now after reading a recent post at the Black Snob, I can honestly say I am SO glad I cancelled my cable. Reality television has really gone there - All My Babies' Mamas - Oxygen's reality series about rapper Shawty Lo’s 11 children by 10 different women. Really? Wow.

Living in the moment

new year by sonja 1/2/13
YES!!! Bring it on.

Give me your drizzle, sunshine and cloudy days. Traffic jams, found treasures and forks in the road. It doesn't matter whether I'm feeling bloated or light as a feather. Who cares frizzy hair or perfect curls. Giggles, tears, frustration or elation.

I'm defiant that this year I AM living in the moment. I embrace my emotional radar, imagination and wisdom to guide me in appropriate action. I resolve to trust my gut and enjoy a year of amazing creations!
